EL GENITIVO SAJ\u00d3N<\/h2>\n

El genitivo saj\u00f3n es el t\u00e9rmino tradicional utilizado para nombrar al encl\u00edtico posesivo \u2019s (ap\u00f3strofo seguido de s) en el idioma ingl\u00e9s. Sirve para expresar que una cosa pertenece a alguien.<\/p>\n

Para formarlo primero hay que a\u00f1adirle ‘s a qui\u00e9n posee y la posesi\u00f3n ir\u00e1 luego.<\/p>\n

Ejemplo: Si queremos decir el bolso de Helen, debemos armar la oraci\u00f3n as\u00ed:
\n– Helen’s bag<\/em>
\nHelen lleva ‘s<\/strong> porque es la poseedora y bag<\/strong> (bolso) va luego porque es la posesi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Veamos otras construcciones:<\/strong>
\nMy sister\u2019s house. \/<\/span> La casa de mi hermana.
\nThe aunt\u2019s car. \/<\/span> El auto de la t\u00eda.
\nJohn\u2019s key. \/<\/span> La llave de John.
\nThat girl is Kate’s daughter. \/<\/span> Esa ni\u00f1a es la hija de Kate.<\/p>\n

El genitivo no se puede utilizar cuando el poseedor es inanimado. En caso de tener que hacer referencia a la posesi\u00f3n de un objeto hay que emplear la construcci\u00f3n con la preposici\u00f3n of<\/em> (de).
\nCORRECTO: The name of the street.
\nINCORRECTO: The street\u2019s name.<\/div><\/div>\n

SUSTANTIVO EN PLURAL<\/h2>\n

Si el sustantivo est\u00e1 en plural terminando en “-s”, se a\u00f1ade solamente el ap\u00f3strofo (‘).
\nExample \/<\/span> Ejemplo:
\nMy brothers’ friends. \/<\/span> Amigos de mis hermanos.<\/p>\n

Si se trata de un plural irregular (que no termina en \u201cs\u201d), se utiliza el \u2018s:
\nThe children\u2019s room. \/<\/span> La habitaci\u00f3n de los ni\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

POSEEDORES DISTINTOS<\/h2>\n

Cuando hay dos posesores distintos (Mary and Tom), la marca del genitivo la lleva el \u00faltimo de los dos nombres:
\nIt is Mary and Tom\u2019s house. \/<\/span> Es la casa de Mary y Tom.<\/p>\n

RELACIONES FAMILIARES<\/h2>\n

El genitivo saj\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se utiliza para indicar relaciones de parentesco.
\nExample: \/<\/span> Ejemplo:
\nThat woman is Peter’s grandmother. \/<\/span> Esa mujer es la abuela de Peter.<\/p>\n

Como se puede observar la traducci\u00f3n se hace de atr\u00e1s hacia adelante.<\/p>\n
